The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov has expressed his opinion on the New Year celebrations. According to him, some Internet users pointed out in their comments that this festival has a religious character, calling him a Christian, therefore, it is a sin to celebrate the New Year.
"For me, the new year is the end of the old and the beginning of the new year. It is a holiday tree and toys. I grew up in a secular society. I officially declare the New Year will be celebrated in the republic not as a Christian holiday, but just the New Year," CHGTRK Grozny cites Kadyrov as saying."
