The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told Georgian journalists that the Russian side has simplified the issuance of visas for Georgian citizens, but the abolition of the visa regime is not possible at the moment.
"We can not do it at this stage for several reasons, including in terms of security," he explained. "However, as far as we know, the Russian President has recently made a decision to expand the circle of people who can invite Georgian citizens to Russia," the deputy foreign minister recalled.
This Russian diplomat made the statement before meeting with the Georgian prime minister’s special representative for relations with Russia, Zurab Abashidze, in Prague.
