Kashagan plans to resume oil production by end of 2016

The Vice-Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Magzum Mirzagaliev, said that oil extraction at Kashagan will be resumed at the end of 2016.

Oil extraction at Kashagan was stopped in September 2013 due to gas leakage in the ground pipeline section.

Kashagan has about 4.8 billion tons of oil and 1 trillion cubic meters of gas. About 10 billion out of its 38 billion barrels of oil are extractable.
