Kazakh National Security Committee comments on "detention" of Nazarbayev's nephew

The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan denied media reports about the alleged detention of the nephew of ex-President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Samat Abish.

"Information about the alleged detention of the First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Samat Abish on January 7, 2022, in Almaty, is untrue and is provocative in nature," Sputnik Kazakhstan cites the message of the committee.

The information about the alleged detention of Abish was spread today by Orda.kz, citing its own source. Later, its editor-in-chief denied this information and apologized.
