Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev has decreed to relieve Prime Minister Karim Massimov of his post and appoint him as Chairman of the National Security Committee, Kazinform reported citing Akorda.
By the presidential decree, Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev has been appointed acting head of the government.
The government was instructed to continue its work before the approval of a new composition.
The former head of the National Security Committee Vladimir Zhumakanov has been appointed advisor to the president of the republic.
