Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Energy Gani Sadibekov has been arrested on embezzlement charges, Kazakhstan’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau said in a press release.

The statement said that Deputy Minister of Energy Sadibekov and Duanbek D. stole public funds, allocated for the cleaning of the lake in the Shchuchinsk-Borovo resort zone, Sputnik-Kazakhstan reported.

According to the National Bureau, last year the Ministry of Energy paid for the work more than $11 million, of which more than $3 million was stolen. This money was found and seized during the search.

In addition, the theft of more than $4.5 million allocated for the cleaning of the lake in the current year was also prevented.
