Kazakhstan's retail chains will no longer provide plastic bags to consumers for free, the country's Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources, Magzum Mirzagaliev said.
The agency signed a relevant memorandum with the Kazakhstan National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken and the Association of Environmental Organizations.
At the signing ceremony in Nur-Sultan, the minister pointed out that the memorandum aims to reduce use of plastic bags with a density of less than 20 microns. The measure will help to reduce the consumption of plastic and polyethylene by 30%.
