Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry responds to protest of Turkmenistan

Yesterday, Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry sent a note to colleagues from Turkmenistan, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported today.

The note served as a response to the protest of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry in connection with the statement by the President of Kazakhstan concerning incidents on the Turkmen-Afghan border during a joint briefing with the President of Russia on October 15 in Astana.

"The Turkmen side expresses its extreme concern and misunderstanding in connection with such a statement by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, about an untrue situation at the state border of Turkmenistan," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported, Trend cited the report.

The note of the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan says that "the comments made by the leadership of Kazakhstan ... were made in the general context of sincere concern about the growing threat of terrorism in the world and in the region."

The note also confirmed "the readiness for further continuous and open dialogue in the spirit of good-neighborliness and friendly relations."
