Kerry and Zarif to continue talks on April 22

The US Secretary of State John Kerry said that he was able to make some progress on a number of key issues at a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

According to him, they’re both "working at making sure that the JCPOA is implemented in exactly the way that it was meant to be". Kerry pointed out that it is necessary that "all the parties to that agreement get the benefits that they are supposed to get out of the agreement".

"We agreed to meet on Friday after the signing of the climate change agreement to sort of solidify what we talked about today," the secretary of state said.

The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, in his turn, confirmed that the meeting discussed the implementation of the agreement on the nuclear program.

According to Zarif, the talks touched on ensuring "that we will draw the benefits that Iran is entitled to from the implementation of the agreement".

"We agreed that we will meet again on Friday to see how best we can put the necessary measures into operation in order to make sure the benefits will be there for Iranian people to enjoy," RIA Novosti cited him as saying.
