Today, at the initiative of the US side, a telephone conversation between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry was held, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
The main topic of conversation was the military conflict in Syria.
"The focus was on issues of a settlement of the conflict in Syria, the way which, in accordance with the Geneva communiqué of June 30 of 2012, lies through establishing a dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition," the Foreign Ministry's official statement said.
It is reported that Sergey Lavrov urged his colleague to create a consolidated resistance against the terrorist associations which have captured a large part of Syria, because this situation is threatening the whole of international security, RIA Novosti reported.
