Iran's development shouldn't take place at the expense of independence and national dignity of the republic, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in an address to the Iranian people in connection with the elections to the Parliament and the Assembly of Experts.
"Development is the country's top goal. But without independence or national dignity it is not accepted," he said.
He also appealed to the elected candidates, officials and representatives of the judiciary, encouraging them to "faithfully execute their duties, maintain a modest lifestyle, put the national interests above all else and prevent intervention in the state's internal affairs," TASS reports.
