During a speech on the occasion of the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed, the spiritual leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, urged Muslim states to create a unified Islamic civilization in order to confront the disunity of the Ummah, accusing the United States of maintaining it.
"The deep hostility of US officials toward Islam motivates them to sow discord between different groups of Islam, including Sunnis and Shiites. The United States chose the creation of such a terrorist group Daesh as the key to the disunity of Muslims, which exists due to the financial and political support from US allies in region,'' Tass cites him as saying.
