Kobakhidze confident Zurabishvili going to win first round of presidential elections

Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze said that independent presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili, being backed by the Georgian Dream party, may win in the first round of elections to be held on October 28.

He also said that the United National Movement opposition is trying to trigger provocations during the pre-election campaign and discredit the election environment ahead of the presidential race.

"The United National Movement is trying to artificially cause destrabilisation. However, they will not achieve the goal," Agenda cited Kobakhidze as saying.

"Their election campaign is based on cheap, black PR campaign, spreading disinformation, and offending of the presidential candidate who is supported by us," he added.

The speaker noted that the UNM satellite media is actively involved in "dirty campaign."

Kobakhidze stated that this year fake list of supporters were presented at the Georgian Central Election Commission, which is the "handwriting" of the United National Movement.
