The Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, became deputy chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). He was elected to this post at the 134th IPU Assembly, held in Lusaka (Zambia).
The senator stated that this decision opens new prospects for Russia, and for the 'Eurasia' geopolitical group, in which the majority of CIS countries is, and which put forward Kosachev's candidacy for this post.
