It is necessary to discuss the introduction of unilateral sanctions and the transfer of international events to countries that do not support them at the next session of the UN General Assembly. That is how the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, commented on the disruption of a visit of the delegation of the Upper Chamber headed by the Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko to the Interparliamentary Union meeting in New York.
Kosachev believes that this issue should be discussed at the opening of the regular session of the UN General Assembly in late September. In addition, he believes that it is necessary to raise this issue at the next IPU Assembly in mid-October in Geneva. In this event, the Russian delegation will arrive in its full composition and will be headed by Valentina Matviyenko.
