Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said preparations were underway for a meeting in Geneva next week between Russian officials and White House national security adviser John Bolton.
"Such contacts are indeed planned and being prepared," TASS cited the spokesman as saying. Peskov did not elaborate further.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said that Bolton would meet secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev as a follow-up to the Helsinki summit. She added that Bolton will also visit Israel and Ukraine for meetings with officials in those countries.
U.S. President Donald Trump met Vladimir Putin in the Finnish capital in July.
