U.S. President Donald Trump said in a July 31 phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that a new U.S. Ambassador to Russia would be nominated soon, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Trump said that soon [the ambassador] would be nominated," TASS cited the Kremlin spokesman as saying.
U.S. ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman will leave his post on October 3.
