Kremlin: Russian and Georgia people remain very close to each other

The Russian government followed the Georgian presidential election and took into consideration the information about Salome Zurabishvili’s victory, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Answering the question on whether Zurabishvili’s victory makes Moscow feel optimistic, Peskov explained that the Kremlin prefers to wait for the new president's first statements and her evaluation of possible prospects for the development of relations between Moscow and  Tbilisi.

"The two nations definitely remain very close to each other. The ties between the countries leave much to be desired after the well-known events," TASS cited the Kremlin spokesman as saying.
