Kremlin reports on first negotiations between President Putin and President Trump

The press-service of the Kremlin reported on the first  telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, held today. First of all, the Russian leader congratulated his US counterpart on the official taking of office and wished success in his work.

As it was stressed in the Kremlin, the two presidents expressed the desire for active cooperation in the field of normalization of the Russian-American relations on a constructive, equal and mutually beneficial basis. ‘’The conversation took place in a positive and businesslike manner,’’ the press-service reports.

A significant part of the conversation amounted to the international issues, including the fight against international terrorism, situation in the Middle East (particularly the Arab-Israeli conflict and the nuclear deal with Iran), the sphere of strategic stability and non-proliferation, the Korean peninsula and the crisis in Ukraine. Putin and Trump agreed to organize a partnership to solve these and other issues.

The parties called terrorism a key issue on the international agenda. Due to this,  an initiative was announced to establish the coordination of the US and Russian actions to defeat the terrorist groups in Syria.

Also, the presidents talked about the need to restore the mutually beneficial trade and economic ties between the companies of the two countries to further ensure the sustainability of the development of the Russian-American relations.

The leaders of Russia and the United States agreed to organize a personal meeting in the near future, as well as to constantly maintain contacts with each other.

Donald Trump asked Putin to convey wishes of happiness and prosperity to the Russian people, adding that the American people like Russia and its citizens.

Vladimir Putin noted that the Russian Federation has similar feelings to the US citizens, recalling that Russia has been supporting America for more than two centuries, and was its ally in the both world wars. The Russian President underlined, that today the Russian Federation considers the United States a key partner in the fight against the international terrorism.
