Kvirikashvili appoints new foreign adviser

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili appointed the country's former Ambassador to the US Tedo Japaridze a new Adviser for Foreign Relations.

Japaridze's appointment was approved by Kvirikashvili on December 7, officially confirming the former Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia on his new position.

Japaridze served as the chair of the committee during his membership of the Georgian Dream party from October 2012-November 2016, while he also worked as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia from 2003-2004.

Born in 1946, his career in Georgia's Governmental agencies has spanned nearly three decades starting with the position of the First Deputy Chair of the UNESCO Affairs Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in 1989.

Japaridze is also widely known in diplomatic circles for his work as the former Ambassador of Georgia to the United States, Canada and Mexico from 1994-2002, Agenda.ge reports.
