Larijani reelected Iran’s Parliament speaker

Iran’s lawmakers elected Ali Larijani as the speaker of the parliament for the 11th consecutive year.

During an open session of the parliament this morning, the MPs voted to choose members of the parliament’s presiding board.

Larijani remained in the post by garnering 147 out of 279 votes, Tasnim reported.

Mohammad Reza Aref, a reformist figure, was the only other candidate running for the post in a second round of polls, but could not win more than 123 votes.
