Lavrov: Russia not shutting itself off from anyone or falling into self-isolation

Russia is in favor of establishing cooperation in the digital sphere and is not shutting itself off from anyone or falling into self-isolation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday at the Digital International Relations - 2022 conference at MGIMO.

"I would also like to say that the current crisis opens up additional opportunities for development, as in any other sphere. I think it is fundamentally important that we are not fencing ourselves off from anyone, we do not fall into self-isolation, we consistently advocate the establishment of professional, constructive cooperation in the digital sphere, primarily in the area of Internet management and cybersecurity," the minister said.

Lavrov noted that Russia is also taking concrete legislative and practical steps "to further strengthen the technological and digital sovereignty of the state." "I will just note that these issues are paid, as I’ve said, constant attention and we have all the necessary resources to solve this problem," the top diplomat added, "Today we are among the world leaders in the development and use of ICT technologies and digital products, which will continue to be constantly developed".
