Lavrov: Russia to help Azerbaijan and Armenia sign peace treaty

There are no doubts that final agreements to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be achieved and Russia has been doing its utmost to bring this about, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a news conference following talks with his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, on Thursday.

"We have a common understanding that the process [of normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan] is moving forward... Some significant positive results, albeit intermediate ones so far, have been achieved. But there is no doubt that final agreements will materialize. We have been trying to bring this about in every possible way," Lavrov said.

According to him, the next meeting of the two commissions - Armenian and Azerbaijani - on border delimitation is due in Moscow. "We are ready to provide advisory assistance, including cartographic materials, in accordance with the agreements by the leaders of the three countries. This is very important for this particular work," he continued.
