Lavrov: Washington's position hinders struggle against terrorism

The United States’ comprehension of being an exceptional nation hinders the matter of fighting terrorism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"They created a coalition on Syria and this is completely their own concept. Many coalition members, including the NATO members, would prefer to go to the Security Council and deal with it in the proper way. But no, they say Assad is illegitimate and no agreements are possible," the Foreign Minister said in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel.
He also pointed out that the international counter-terrorist coalition treats Iraq in a different way from Syria.

"They say 'we love Iraq and we try to educate it. But Syria is a dictatorship whose days are numbered, we’re going to bomb it without asking for permission'," RIA Novosti cited Lavrov as saying.
