The chairman of Russia’s Federation Council International Affairs Committee, Konstantin Kosachev, noted that the latest meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson could be used for coordinating positions ahead of the UN General Assembly
"I see a positive signal in today’s meeting," TASS cited Kosachev as saying.
"No doubt, the two countries, which are permanent UN Security Council’s members, should coordinate their steps ahead of the upcoming General Assembly," the senator said.
"This is a good sign," he added.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson have reiterated their commitment to eliminating conflict situations during the military operation in Syria, as well as to reducing the level of violence in the Arab Republic, the US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement.
