Lavrov and Zarif meet in Vienna

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Vienna.

Ahead of the consultations, the foreign ministers warmly greeted each other. Zarif asked Lavrov about his schedule. The Russian foreign minister said that he arrived in Vienna from Minsk and noted that he held a meeting with the US Secretary of State John Kerry in the run-up to today’s meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG).

Lavrov also said that he has met representatives of the Syrian opposition and attended a meeting on Nagorno-Karabakh for which the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, arrived in Vienna.

The meeting of ministers continued behind closed doors, TASS reports.
