To date, there are no facts that confirm the reports about possible cooperation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad with the Islamic State terrorist organization, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated.
"There is a lot of superficiality, a lot of speculation. Some people are even trying to present the case in a way that Assad is even cooperating with ISIS. There are no facts. Common sense tells us that this cannot be, because you cannot even think about the idea that someone cooperates with an organization whose aim is simply to seize power over large areas, not only in the Middle East and North Africa," RIA Novosti quotes the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
