Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, stated today that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will speak at the UN General Assembly on September 27.
He also noted that the 70th jubilee session of the General Assembly opened yesterday, adding that on September 28 a high-level general political discussion will begin, and it will be of particular importance for the international community.
According to Churkin, the Russian delegation will be headed by President Vladimir Putin. "Prior to that, on September 25-27, New York will hold the UN summit on development. On September 27 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will speak at it," RIA Novosti quotes Churkin as saying.
