Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pay a working visit to Tashkent on May 2-3. He will meet with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told the briefing.
During the meetings, “it is expected to review the progress of the implementation of large-scale agreements”, which were reached following Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Uzbekistan in October 2018, as well as an exchange of views on topical issues of bilateral cooperation, she noted.
The diplomat also said that Lavrov will discuss with the leadership of Uzbekistan "a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest." Separate attention will be paid to the situation in Afghanistan, Zakharova added.
