In Georgia, residents of the Namokhvani village of the Tskhaltubi municipality, clergymen and representatives of NGOs have been holding protests for more than three weeks in connection with the construction of the Namakhvani hydroelectric power station on the Rioni River.
According to the protesters, the construction of the hydroelectric power station will lead to the flooding of 500 hectares of land, including forests, arable land, several villages, which will leave dozens of families homeless.
Yesterday, the rally ended in a clash between the police and the participants.
