Lokomotiv midfielder Dmitriy Tarasov could be disqualified for wearing a T-shirt with the image of Russian President Vladimir Putin after the first match of the last 16 of the Europa League in Istanbul.
After the match Tarasov said that he did not intend any provocation and it was his own initiative to wear the T-shirt. "I'm just a patriot and Vladimir Putin is our president. And the T-shirt says that we have a great president. I did it after the game. It's not the first time I have worn it, but no one noticed it before," he explained.
"Most likely it caused such a response due to the fact that the game was played in Istanbul," Tarasov added.
Lokomotiv Moscow star Dmitri Tarasov sported a pro-Vladimir Putin T-shirt risking the wrath of football fans in Istanbul amid political tensions between Turkey and Russia.
