Low-cost airline Silk Avia receives its first aircraft in Tashkent

On Tuesday morning, the first aircraft of the new low-cost Uzbek airline Silk Avia arrived at the Tashkent airport. The aircraft was traveling from Bangkok with six refueling stops.

The ATR 72-600 aircraft can fly 1,5 thousand km and carry up to 70 passengers. It consumes little fuel and this plane is actively used around the world for short-haul flights.

The new carrier purchased three aircraft of this kind. French-Italian ATR aircraft are in great demand, the low-cost airline carefully selected aircraft no older than 2019 and with high technical characteristics. Suitable aircraft were found at Bangkok Airways. On March 21, the first of the purchased plane landed in Tashkent. On the way from Bangkok, it made the following stops: in Singapore, India, Oman, Egypt, Cyprus and Azerbaijan.

At the Tashkent airport, the plane was met not only by the representatives of the airline and Uzbekistan Airports, but also by journalists and bloggers.

The first Silk Avia aircraft was greeted solemnly, with the traditional water arch, colors and sounds of the karnay.

At the end of October 2022, a regional low-cost airline appeared in Uzbekistan. At the same time, Silk Avia, controlled by Uzbekistan Airports, received a $50 million loan to purchase the first aircraft.
