The explosion, which took place on the fourth floor of a newly-built nine-storey residential building in Didi Digomi district of Tbilisi, also injured eight others.
The investigation will look into violations of safety procedures, Agedna.ge reported.
Initial testimonies gathered by police from witnesses show that a gas leak may have caused the explosion in the residential building.
