French President Emmanuel Macron has said that he believes his policy of dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin is correct.
"I think it is absolutely right to remain in constant dialogue with the Russian president on behalf of France," Macron said on TF1 channel, adding that in particular, "this is necessary to build new European security architecture."
Macron recalled that he began his dialogue with Putin right after being elected as French president in May 2017. Macron called this dialogue "his duty" as France’s head of state, but added that "this dialogue is carried out without any naivety."
