Magnitude 6.4 earthquake strikes Cyprus region

An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 struck Cyprus region on Tuesday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The quake was at a depth of 2 km, Reuters reported.

It was centred 30 miles west-northwest of the town of Polis in Cyprus around 1am local time and the tremor was felt across the island and the region, including reports from as far away as Turkey, Israel and Lebanon.

There are no reports of damage or injuries.
