Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated today that the blame for the suspension of flights of Turkish airlines Pegasus Airlines and Onur Air to Russia lies with their management, which has not issued visas for the crews.
"We perceived today's statement by the Minister of Transport of Turkey, containing baseless accusations against Russia in connection with the suspension of flights to our country of two Turkish airlines – Pegasus Airlines and Onur Air – with indignation. I would like to recommend the Turkish minister not to quickly join the anti-Russian propaganda campaign, and find out the real situation with the aforementioned Turkish air carriers," Maria Zakharova suggested.
"Pegasus Airlines filed a visa request and the documents to our Consulate General in Istanbul only in the afternoon on January 6th. Onur Air did not even get in touch with us about visas," TASS quoted the Russian diplomat as saying.
