Official reception of President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili to the Italian Republic has been held at the Quirinal Palace. According to the Presidential Administration, state anthems of Georgia and Italy have been performed at the ceremony, after which the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella guided his counterpart through the palace.
The two presidents held a face-to-face meeting which focused on the development of Georgia-Italy bilateral cooperation and multilateral relations in international formats, Interpress news agency reported.
President Margvelashvili expressed gratitude towards President Mattarella for Italy’s contribution to the EU Monitoring Mission. Conversation also touched upon Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration process and President Margvelashvili thanked President Mattarella for Italy’s support of Georgia throughout this process.
The importance of frequent high-level exchange visits was underlined. Margvelashvili invited Mattarella to pay an official visit to Georgia.
