Today the European Parliament adopted a resolution on Crimea, which implies the removal of anti-Russian sanctions in exchange for the separation of the Crimea as a part of the Russian territory and the transfer of the peninsula to Ukraine. In response to the question by a ‘Vestnik Kavkaza’ correspondent about the reaction of the Russian Foreign Ministry on this event the official representative of the Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stressed that, in spite of external actions, the issue of possible separation of Crimea from the Russian Federation is solved forever.
‘‘Those people who are engaged in constant raising of the matter for Kiev or perhaps any other sides about the return of Crimea to Ukraine, just do their job in order to earn money," she said, telling an anecdote in this regard.
"The notorious Ukrainian leader is praying to God for help in order to return Crimea. And God answered him: "You have already returned Crimea, now it's time to return the money," Maria Zakharova said.
Thus, the diplomat illustrated the fact that Russia does not discuss this issue in any way. "The topic of returning Crimea is closed forever. Crimea is the territory of the Russian Federation, and any attempts to challenge it at any level, as well as in the European Parliament, is a waste of time, money and efforts. This issue is closed, it is not discussed anymore," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported today that the European Parliament is being discussed a draft resolution on Crimea, which is a key condition for the normalization of relations between Russia and the EU proposes to return the peninsula to Ukraine. The draft resolution also includes an issue of violation of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, which according to deputies, happen in Russian Crimea.
In particular, the European Parliament alleges in its resolution that rights of the Crimean Tatar population violated in the country. The European Parliament "strongly condemns the decision of the so-called Crimean Supreme Court to ban the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and demands its immediate abolition,’’ the bill says.
