Maria Zakharova to Vestnik Kavkaza: anti-terrorist coalition should be created as soon as possible

Anti-terrorist coalition must be created as soon as possible, the Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a briefing for journalists, answering the question of correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza.

At the same time, she reminded about the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin - voiced by him at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly - to create a broad international anti-terrorist coalition.

"This proposal consisted of such principles as the adoption of relevant resolution, collective ways of fight against international terrorism, joint efforts not only of regional powers, but of all countries, which would like to become members of such coalition," Maria Zakharova noted.

She also stressed that the main condition for the creation of such anti-terrorist front would be the adoption of international legal document, like the UN Security Council resolution, which would define the framework of this coalition, give it necessary mandate.

"This way, there won't be those who act according to their own understanding, who would begin or end their participation in this coalition at their own will, who would try to promote their agenda. There will be a truly coherent, collective work on solid international legal basis," she stressed.

In addition, she warned that the refusal to take such actions and accept this philosophy may result in terrible consequences. The entire world will become hostage to one or several large or small terrorist organizations. "We must act until it's too late," Maria Zakharova concluded.
