The April battles for Karabakh in 2016 violated the 1994 ceasefire agreement, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a briefing, the correspondent of the Vestnik Kavkaza reports.
"Active efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation in the conflict zone and creating conditions for the advancement of the peace process were made on the part of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and international organizations," she noted. "In particular, the summits on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, which were held in Vienna and St. Petersburg in 2016, were devoted to this topic," Zakharova recalled.
The diplomat said that work in this direction continues at all levels.
"We expect that the parties will return to the negotiating table and resume the dialogue aimed at achieving a sustainable settlement," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
