'Mashuk-2016' opens in Pyatigorsk

The 7th North Caucasian Youth Forum 'Mashuk' opened in Pyatigorsk today. According to the organizing committee, 2450 people are expected to participate in the forum this year.

"The majority of participants will arrive with delegations from the seven regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, representatives of 43 other regions of the country have also confirmed their participation in the forum. And foreign delegations from Azerbaijan, South Ossetia, Georgia and Turkmenistan will arrive for the second part of the forum," TASS cited the organizers.

'Mashuk' will be attended by almost 500 people form Dagestan, the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic said. "481 representative of the republic will arrive to 'Mashuk-2016', they will present their projects in all thematic areas of the forum," the representative of the ministry said, recalling that last year Dagestan was represented by 440 participants.

"The delegation from Stavropol is the largest, consisting of two groups, each consisting of 320 people. In total 640 Stavropol residents will present some 400 projects to compete for grants," the head of the Stavropol delegation Eugeniya Arustamova said.

It is expected that the general forum meeting will be held today on such topics as "social entrepreneurship", "business space" and "youth work". The official opening ceremony, which will be attended by VIP-guests and heads of regions, is scheduled for tomorrow.


Two shifts will be held on August 5-19. The 'Mashuk' program also includes creative activities. "On August 10, which is the Day of Dagestan, our craftsmen will demonstrate metal and wood processing activities, master classes on pottery, carpet weaving, Kaitag embroidered textile art and unzukul art will also be held for members of the North Caucasian Youth Forum," the press head of the service of the regional Ministry of Tourism, Natalya Zakriyaeva, said.

According to the organizers, this year legal entities will receive 20 grants (2.5 million rubles each), individuals will receive 75 grants (300 thousand rubles each), 20 grants (400 thousand rubles each) and 10 grants (500 thousand rubles each). Last year, the total amount of 125 grants was 85.5 million rubles.

The chairman of the Youth Committee of Ingushetia, Ramzan Ugurchiev, said this time the Commission selected 180 of 350 projects for the Mashuk forum.

In 2015, the forum gathered 2.5 thousand participants from the North Caucasus Federal District, as well as Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Serbia and South Ossetia. As the result of two shifts, the forum's participants defended more than 1500 projects in the categories "Development of Youth Self-Government", "Civil Initiatives", "Patriotic Education", "Volunteering" and others.
