Matviyenko confident of upcoming improvement in relations between Russia and USA

Despite all the existing contradictions, Russia and the United States have a positive agenda on which they can work together, the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko stated at a meeting with participants of the Soviet-American Women's Summit of 1990, Sara Harder and Joan Kurianski, who arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in the Eurasian Women's Forum.

"Russia wants to maintain constructive interaction and mutually beneficial cooperation with the United States, because we are two world powers and we have a serious influence on the development of world politics in general. And we have this positive agenda on which we must work together," TASS quoted her as saying.

Matviyenko is sure that, "no matter how complicated relations between Russia and the United States are," Moscow and Washington will be able to get out of this difficult situation.
