The Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, has held talks with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Singapore, Halima Jacob.
The sides discussed the whole range of Russian-Singapore relations, as well as inter-parliamentary cooperation. Matviyenko stressed that bilateral political dialogue has intensified in recent years. According to her, parliamentary diplomacy may have a great influence on the formation of trust and mutual understanding, and creating a foundation for future bilateral relations. Valentina Matviyenko invited Halima Jacob to visit Russia.
"For Russia, Singapore is a very promising partner in Southeast Asia," the speaker of the Federation Council said.
Matviyenko and Jacob noted that the signing of the free trade agreement between Singapore and the EEU will open new opportunities for effective trade and economic cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to the interaction of Tatarstan and Singapore.
In general, Matviyenko noted that the talks during her official visit to Singapore were very informative and constructive.
