Medvedev extends condolences to Merkel over terrorist act in Berlin

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev expressed condolences to German Chancellor Angela Merkel over deadly terrorist act in Berlin, stressing the need for joint international efforts in fight against terrorism.

"This cynical crime has no excuses. The incident confirms once again that joint efforts are needed in fight against terrorism," Sputnik cited Medvedev as saying.

On Monday, a truck rammed into the crowd at a Berlin Christmas market on the Breitscheidplatz square, killing 12 people and injuring 49 more. Germany's Interior Ministry described the incident as a terrorist attack.
