The Azerbaijani people have always cherished their culture, language, literature, poetry and music, elements that have preserved the spirit of our nation through the centuries, Azerbaijan’s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva said in the congratulatory letter to the participants of the X Gabala International Music Festival.
The Gabala International Music Festival, an annual festival of classical music held every summer, is held on July 30-August 7 this year.
Organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Gilan Holding, the festival will feature world-renowned conductors, performers and bands from Azerbaijan, Russia, Israel, USA, Switzerland, Austria, Cuba, Hungary, Turkey, Spain, Italy and Georgia.
"The 10th anniversary edition of this splendid celebration of music held in Gabala coincides with a particularly special occasion for our country: the Centenary of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic, the first Parliamentary Republic in the Muslim East. The Azerbaijani people have always cherished their culture, language, literature, poetry and music, elements that have preserved the spirit of our nation through the centuries," Trend cited Mehriban Aliyeva as saying.
She also said that the opening concert of the festival is dedicated to the music heritage of the great composer Gara Garayev, whose 100th anniversary is celebrated in 2018.
