On her social networks, First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, First Lady of the country Mehriban Aliyeva shared a publication dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy.
"I respectfully honor the blessed memory of the innocent victims of the Khojaly genocide. May Allah rest the souls of all our martyrs", she wrote, Sputnik Azerbaijan reports.
Vestnik Kavkaza previously reported, February 26 is one of the most tragic dates in the history of Azerbaijan. On this day in 1992, Armenian nationalists, with the support of mercenaries, captured the city of Khojaly, where they massacred Azerbaijanis, killing 613 people, including 106 women and 63 children, and capturing 1,275 Khojaly residents. Another 150 went missing and 5,379 citizens were expelled.
