The European Union has the tools to block the construction of the Nord Stream - 2 gas pipeline, the European deputy for Germany, candidate for the post of head of the European Commission, Manfred Weber said.
According to him, the project is not economic, but political. "It is contrary to the interests of the European Union, so we must block it," Weber said.
At the same time, he stressed that the EU and Russia already have enough connections. He added that Gerhard Schroeder is one of the most active supporters of the Nord Stream 2 in Europe, who, according to Weber, is not a businessman, but a politician.
