A group of tourists from Germany suffered in the terrorist attack in Istanbul, but the government has no information about victims or survivors yet, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated at a briefing.
"We do not have complete information about the victims or the perpetrators. But we are very concerned about the fact that German citizens may be among the victims and injured persons, and, perhaps, they will be there," she stressed.
"The victims belong to a German tourist group, and the Foreign Ministry, of course, immediately created a crisis headquarters to try to quickly gather all the necessary information," RIA Novosti quoted Merkel as saying.
The Chancellor added that in the coming hours she plans to hold a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu.
