In Kabardino-Balkaria, near the mountain village of Arik, an expedition of scientists has possibly found fragments of a meteorite that fell there over a hundred years ago, historian and chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society Victor Kotlyarov said.
Fragments have been discovered thanks to the local residents. Newspapers wrote about the fall of a meteorite in 1914. At the time, Eugraph Savelyev reported in an article about a very large rock that emitted sparks when struck with a hammer.
The exact location of the possible meteorite is not disclosed, since one gram of "space rock" costs from 100 to 10 thousand dollars, YUGA writes.
