Microsoft to equip Georgian schools with Wi-Fi technology

American multinational technology giant Microsoft is partnering with Georgia’s Education Ministry to create a better learning environment at the country’s schools. Yesterday the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding entailing the implementation of Wi-Fi practices on school premises in Georgia, Agenda.ge reports.

According to the document, during the initial stage of 2016-2017 academic year Microsoft Corporation will equip 32 school buildings of the country with a Wi-Fi technology for gratis. The long-term strategic priority is to provide internet throughout Georgia to all of the educational society. Many schools in Georgia already do have internet, but they do not have Wi-Fi.

The memorandum also covers the MS Office 365 Cloud Service, which will assist Georgian teachers and students in the introduction of an engaging teaching and learning practices.

"Owing to this project, the teachers and students will be able to connect to the internet at school, thus removing barriers to access to knowledge,” Georgia’s Education Ministry said after the document was signed.
